[Peace-discuss] Cancellation of Socialism Event

When I cancelled the event on Facebook, unfortunately it cut off access to the comments that had been made. I do not see how to restore that. When I originally planned this event, I aimed for diversity--gender, racial, global. Unfortunately, after asking at least 10 women, none of whom were both willing and able to participate, I went ahead with publicizing the event. I had trepidation about doing so, and now I can understand why. It's perfectly understandable that some people were taken aback at the panel being all men. So that's the way it goes, and we'll get back to it some other time.
Terri Barnes had originally agreed to participate, but had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict. Zsazsu Gille also might have considered participating, but she also had a conflict. Kathy Oberdeck expressed her regrets, due to the fact that she is on sabbatical. In addition, I asked Harriet Murav, Melissa Orlie, Susan Davis, Susan Parenti, Stephanie Seawell, Natalie Uhl, and Pat Simpson.
Michelle Jett, Carl Ammons assistant, made a comment on Facebook that there may be some underlying reason why no women were willing to participate. I disagree with this.
