Col. Larry Wilkerson makes the point, the US will remain, occupying Afghanistan for at least another half century, "not to counteract any Taliban, Al Qaida, or ISil, but to counter China's BRI," or Silk Road, which is bringing progress to the world, "and to counter Pakistan's nuclear weapons should that nation destabilize."

I suggest the former is the more likely reason, especially since Pakistan has been nuclear armed for almost half a century, but now they are moving closer to China with plans for the BRI as well as other business opportunities...........
