[Peace-discuss] Anti-War March Saturday 5 PM CDT, West Side Park Champaign, Il

Please join PSL for a march against war.

This is a new group of young people, some students, many not.

 PSL, “Party for Socialist Liberation.” Their anti-war division is ANSWER.

They maybe new to Champaign, but they have been actively opposing war for many years, with chapters across the country, in most major city’s.

They are holding their march against war at West Side Park, meeting at 5:00pm in the pavilion at the southwest corner.

From the PSL:

The threat of the Trump administration to launch new military action against Syria saw a significant escalation on Tuesday, April 10th. They have stated that action will take place within 24 or 48 hours. We are currently approaching the end of that time frame.

The Syrian government has denied and invited investigation of claims about their recent alleged chemical attack, which is the excuse the Trump admin is using to justify the air strike that is being discussed. Two previous claims about chemical attacks by the Syrian government turned out to be unsubstantiated. Even by the Trump admin's own admission, the current claim also remains unsubstantiated.

This cannot have any other impact but to prepare the population for the “justice” of another U.S. imperialist intervention in the Middle East. It is very reminiscent of the false "weapons of mass destruction" claims that created the pretext for the Iraq war in 2003. Therefore, we are staging a protest and march to make our opposition clear.

We urge everyone who opposes the U.S. war machine to join us in this critical moment to push back against the warmongers in the government and media. Meet us at the pavilion in the southwest of West Side Park near downtown Champaign at 5:00pm this Saturday. Co-sponsors will speak briefly before we begin the march through downtown Champaign, and loop back around to the park.
