* On her decision not to watch much TV during the run-up to the Iraq war being led by her son, George W. Bush: "But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's going to happen, and how many this and what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that? And watch him suffer." (March 18, 2003)

Mrs. Bush. Let me just tell you. He thanked George and gave him a little American flag. And he said, "This is from all the men in Panama, and I want you to have this from them. And we thank you for sending us." He's a paraplegic.
Q. From this incident?
Mrs. Bush. Right there. He's so sweet. But I mean, he met him. He wasn't -- you can't fake that.
Q. Thank you, Mrs. Bush.
The President. You have a Happy New Year!
