Hello all,
  I remember someone mentioning wanting to learn more about Islam in light
the recent events at the AWARE mtg, so here's the listing of all the Islam
Awarness Week events.  Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon have
specific events relating to sept 11...

		  Islam Awareness Week - October 1-5, 2001
			   Revealing the Peace

			     Monday, October 1
			   "Children of Heaven"

 "Children of Heaven" showing at 5pm in 112 Chem Annex - a Persian Film by
 award winning director Majid Majidi - highlights the story of two poor
 children trying to hide the loss of their shoes from their parents.
 (Thought provoking and dramatic, 4* entertainment)

			    Tuesday, October 2
			 "Muslims and the Media"

 Presented by Emmy Award winner, Farzad Wafapoor at 7pm in the local
 Mosque - located at 106 Lincoln Avenue

			   Wednesday, October 3
		      Cerebral Cafe: "Peace and War"

 Discussion about September 11 incidents at 1pm in the Courtyard
 Cafe of the Illini Union by PhD Badredien Arfi, professor in poli sci.

			    Thursday, October 4
		   	   "Shattering Illusions"

 A panel discussion on women in Islam at the Illini Union, room 407
 starting at 7pm

			     Friday, October 5
  			       Prayer Service

Prayer Observation at the local Mosque (106 Lincoln Avenue)
starting at 1pm.  Lunch will also be served, all are invited to attend!!

			    "Islam in the West"

Presented by Imam Shaker Elsayyad at 7:30PM, and an international food
sampling at 8:30pm.  Both events in the University YMCA on Wright Street

questions and win prizes!

Islamic Art from around the world at the Illini Union Art Gallery,
Exhibit displays Oct 2-Oct24; Reception will be held on October 3 from
7-9PM at the Union Art Gallery
