In Britain- opposition party criticizes pro-war policy

Chevron-Texaco merge- becoming 4th largest oil company - big stakes in Kazakhstan oil field bordering Afghanistan

Government "persuaded" media to censor Bin laden - media executives said security was #2 reason for this - "propaganda" being #1

Illness reported among soilders exposed to anthrax vaccine 

Anti-Terrorism bill passed house and senate

30,000 protested war in London

60,000 protested war in Berlin

Sunday 10-14, 2 planes bombed Afghani village killing 130 civilians - according to The Guardian of London

3. Reports from working groups- 

A. Aware CARE - met to develop process, identified 9-10 working groups, found contacts, will try to help new comers find a group

suggestions for this group - have a social event/potluck on sunday?

B. Mass Mobilization - Sehvilla & Naomi - Events Planned: - Teach-in for Sat. Nov. 3rd, and Direct Action for Sat. Nov. 10th

Action Ideas - house parties/discussions, march from last farmers market in november, make resource kit with flyers, media info.

C. Media - Kord, Barry M, Vicki A - spoke about media coverage this group got last week on WAND, News-Gazette, etc.

D. Speakers Bureau - Laura Haber - request that people send ideas of groups that they should be talking to, need speakers, need organizational logistical support

E. Ladies Against the War - Susan - meeting every day at noon at that urbana free library with banner - except on thursdays...thursdays meet at noon @ I-74/Prospect interchange - "ladies and laddies" for this one... 

D. Street Theatre - Brian Hagy - performed! interested people should be in touch...

E. Art/Revolution Group - Pauline - meets @ Pauline's house 311 Wright every Wed. at 8 PM to make zines, wants to make a map of world conflict to be used at demonstrations

F. Website - rosemary - Aware site is up - temporarily is at www.grex.org/~aware   - help needed to build website, also need comments!

G. Sanctuary - Clint Popetz - not much happening, not getting calls returned - privacy concerns? university has residence halls for students... those interested should contact Clint

H. Prarie Greens - Barry Miller - not much to report - Greens have a meeting coming up, soon to make policy statement

I. Civil Liberties - Stuart Laird in not here, at Dem's party meeting...

J. Outreach - Jim Buell is making flyers, buttons, info, etc. and taking them to peace churchs - introducing them to Aware...
