On November 18th, 2001, 20 students and community members joined thousands
at the gates of the military base Ft. Benning in Georgia, to take part in
the growing movement to call for the closing of the Western Hemisphere
Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC), formerly known as the SOA.  The
US Army School of the Americas trains Latin American soldiers in combat,
counter-insurgency, and counter-narcotics.

On Tuesday, February 19th, at 8:00 pm in the K1&K2 rooms of the University
YMCA, members and supporters of the University of Illinois chapter of
Amnesty International School of the Americas committee (UIUCSOAW) will be
conducting an educational forum about the U.S. Army School of the Americas.
