[Peace] Happy May Day

Friends,

You are invited to events celebrating May Day.

There's a rally on the Quad today from 12-1 p.m.in honor of International 
Worker's Day.  There will be several speakers including:
James Barrett, UI history professor on the history of May Day
Gardner Rogers, on the student movement against sweatshops
Bill Bland, AFL-CIO on a workers memorial
Sundiata Cha-Jua, director of the UI's Afro-American Studies and Research 
Program, on issues of class and race
Mike Lehman of the Living Wage Association on efforts to pass living wage 
ordinances
a speaker from GEO on efforts to form a graduate student union
There will also be music and poetry.

There will be an evening program tonight at 7 pm room 100 Gregory Hall.
The speaker is David Rodeiger, UI History Dept and his talk is entitled 
"Red, Green, and Chicago All Over: A History of May Day"
A reception will follow his talk at the University YMCA.
