[Peace] Israeli refusenik this weekend!

This coming weekend AWARE is pleased to welcome Mr. Ram Rahat-Goodman, an 
Israeli reservist who has signed the Courage to Refuse declaration asserting 
that he will not serve in military actions outside Israel's 1967 borders. 
Mr. Rahat-Goodman and the other 400 signatories to this pledge declare that 
they will not "continue to fight beyond the 1967 borders in order to 
dominate, expel, starve and humiliate an entire people." Yet as people 
"raised upon the principles of Zionism" they promise to "continue serving in 
the Israel Defense Forces in any mission that serves Israel's defense."  As 
Zionists who oppose the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, members of the 
Courage to Refuse campaign illustrate that there are more sides to the
conflict than simply pro- and anti-Israel.

Mr. Rahat-Goodman is a long-time refusenik, having begun his commitment 
during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, soon after his emigration to 
Israel.  He has since served in the Medical Corps in Jerusalem and is due to 
end his reserve duty soon.

We would love to see a large turnout for Mr. Rahat-Goodman this weekend!
