Subject: Callout: Images/Artwork for "We Are Everywhere" book

***PLEASE FORWARD!****SORRY FOR CROSS POSTS***PLEASE
FORWARD!***

CALLING all radical photographers, artists, and
graphic designers:

A radical publishing project, 'We are Everywhere: the
irresistible rise of global anti-capitalism’, is being
put together by a collective of activists, artists and
writers. We are looking for more photographs, street
art and posters/flyers for the book. The book will
celebrate, document, explore and critique the recent
rise of the global movement(s) against capitalism and
for life, autonomy, land, dignity and justice.

This is our second callout for this project which has
been in the works for the last few years. We are now
nearing completion and are doing one final call
specifically for amazing, beautiful and inspiring
images of resistance to illustrate the book with.

This is a general callout for any images you have
which just completely blow you away (NO bad snapshots
please!) This could mean not only photographs, but
also flyers/posters of actions, pictures of street
art, any kind of resistance art that you think is
exceptional. However we are also looking for some
specific material to fill in some gaps, including:

-inspiring pictures which represent alternatives to
capitalism (e.g. guerilla gardens, social centers,
alternative economics...) we are looking to make a
visual declaration of alternatives to global
capitalism, please send any photos you have which you
think illustrate this.

-cool posters from actions/street parties around the
world

-beautiful photos of resistance which show cultural
diversity, not necessarily action oriented

-pictures from inside conferences, of delegates, from
the inside looking out, funny group portraits of them

-photos of fences of all kinds being torn down
anywhere

More specific gaps we are trying to fill:

Global days of action:

-Global Street Party/WTO Actions May 1998
-J18 1999
-N30 1999
-Mayday 2000
-S26 2000
-A20-22 2001
-J20-22 2001

we have loads of pictures already from the big actions
(e.g. London J18, Genoa J20) on these global days, so
we are particularly looking for strong photos from the
smaller actions that happened around the world to
illustrate just how diverse and globally reaching this
movement of movements is. BUT if you have absolutely
amazing pictures from the big actions on these days
that you think we just have to see, send them
along....

-1994 Zapatista uprising in Chiapas
-1st Encuentro in Chiapas 1996
-Zapatista Caravan Feb-March 2001
-APEC actions november 25th Vancouver 1997
-2nd Encuentro Spain 1997
-Movimento Sem Terra Brazil
-Thai protest villages against dams from any time
period post 1994

tear gas, also impressive pictures of Indymedia

activity

South Africa

More about “We are Everywhere.”

"We Are Everywhere" is information for inspiration, it
is NOT an academic or objective historical analysis.
The project will be pure provocative propaganda.
Contagious propaganda woven together from the many
voices emanating from the many worlds who make up this
rich and diverse movement.

"We are Everywhere" will celebrate, document, explore
and critique the recent rise of the global
movement(s) against capitalism and for life, autonomy,
land, dignity and justice.

The project is aimed at an audience of people
intrigued by what they have seen in mainstream media
and those who stand on the edges of the movement and
have not made the jump into participation. It is also
for those who mistakenly think this is a movement of
white Western kids, that it began in Seattle and that
it just wants to reform transnational corporations and
global institutions. We aspire to seduce these people
into joining in the joyful revolution of the everyday,
while simultaneously challenging ourselves and each
other to move forward.

One of the great strengths of these movements have
been their capacity to re-ignite the idea of a truly
global political project, a project defined by notions
of autonomy, ecology, direct democracy,
self-organisation and direct action. While events in
Seattle, Prague and Genoa hit the headlines, the mass
mobilizations and radical movements of the global
South, many of which have provided the inspiration to
northern convergences and actions, have remained
unseen and unacknowledged. This project hopes to
redress this balance and tell many of the inspiring
stories that still remain to be told.

A bit about us:

Our collective (which still has no name) has emerged
to work on this project and will soon disappear, like
a surgical thread melting into a wound, back into the
work of assisting the decay of capitalism. It is made
up of activists, writers and artists - all of whom
have who have deep connections to this movement. Some
of them are involved in Reclaim the Streets in the UK,
others have worked in movements of the Global South or
were involved in the shut down of the WTO in Seattle,
some are deeply rooted in their local struggles others
are nomadic organizers, some spend time teaching
others writing, some have jobs, some have kids and
most manage miraculously to do all of these things.
If you look through police video surveillance you will
notice that all of them can be seen on the streets of
Prague in 2000, in various guises, enjoying another
carnival against capital. Now they are living in
different cities, on different continents but still
remain connected by their irresistible optimism and
insatiable desire to turn the world upside-down.
