[Prof. Fazal Rizvi, is a faculty at the Department of Educational Policy Studies, College of Education, UIUC.  He obtained his Ph.D., in Philosophy and Education, Kings College, University of London; M.Ed., Philosophy and Education, University of Manchester, UK; B.Ed., Philosophy, Mathematics and Education, University of Canberra, Australia.


Prof. Rizvi's research interests involve: Comparative and international education, Higher education and policy in the Asia-Pacific, Cultural globalization and education policy, and Global inequalities and educational policy.   


Prof. Rizvi prior to joining the UIUC faculty in 2001, was Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and Professor, Education, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia; Professor of Education, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, 1996-2000. He has also taught at the Universities of Queensland, Dekang, Australia; and University of Warwick, UK, and University of Wisconsin.  Prof. Rizvi has been Editor, Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics Education, 1993-2000.


Prof. Rizvi recently spoke to High School teachers at a special workshop held during "Rethinking Terrorism" conference held at UIUC; outlining his thoughts on how to approach the development and teaching of social studies curriculum post 9/11.
