Prof. Alleyne is an Assistant Professor at UIUC. He has D.Phil.
(international relations), Oxford University. He currently holds joint
appointment in African Studies and Affiliation with International Program
Council. Political economy of international communication, press freedom,
communication and political development, pan-Africanism, Afro-Hispanic
culture, political economy of transnational sports media.

Professor Alleyne's scholarly work includes: books- International Power and
International Communication; and News Revolution: Political and Economic
Decisions About Global Information ( Prof. Alleyne's newest book is on the
public information program of the United Nations, titled Global Lies:
Propaganda, the UN and World Order, forthcoming from Palgrave.
A particular concern of Professor Alleyne is the role played by mass media
in transnational racial politics.

Professor Alleyne is also a professional journalist with several years
experience as a reporter for the BBC World Service, the Caribbean News
Agency, and various other international media. His academic honors include
the Rhodes Scholarship (1986), and the Research Fellowship at the Freedom
Forum Media Studies Center, Columbia University (1993).
