ubject: Supreme Court Action Alert: Sign the Petition

Lynn Anderson <lynn.a at covad.net> wanted you to sign a petition opposing President Bush's
attempt to stack the Supreme Court with right-wing extremists.

	http://www.democrats.org/scotus/petition.html

The United States Supreme Court protects America's most cherished values: equal rights and
protections for all, public education, environmental safeguards, the right to privacy, a
woman's right to choose, civil liberties, free speech, religious freedom, and much more.

BUT THESE AMERICAN VALUES ARE ENDANGERED.

One or more Supreme Court Justices will likely retire at the end of the current session
this June. When this happens, President George W. Bush will name ultra-conservative
nominees who will very quickly overturn decades of Supreme Court protections of our
cherished American values.

SIGN THE AMERICAN VALUES PETITION

Let President Bush know what you think. Sign the petition today to stand up for American
values. Tell President Bush you're going to oppose his right-wing extremist nominees and
fight to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, workers' rights, the environment, and
more.

Lynn Anderson <lynn.a at covad.net>'s comments:

Defending a balanced supreme court is the most important issue facing the people of the
United States. It is time US Americans stop sleepwalking behind a religious, right-wing
president and stand up for the values and rights that form the basis of our social and
political system. The destruction that will be caused if Bush is allowed to stack the
court with justices representing his narrow, minority views, will follow us long after he
leaves office.
