Boeing No. 2 on U.S. military list
>From the Crain's Chicago Business Newsroom
January 24 12:49:00, 2003
-----
Chicago-based Boeing Co. fell just shy of getting the lion's share of
2002 contract awards from the U.S. Department of Defense, losing the
first place spot to rival
Lockheed Martin Corp.

According to a report released Thursday by the Defense Department,
Maryland-based Lockheed Martin received $17.0 billion worth of contracts
in fiscal year 2002.
Boeing took home $16.6 billion in contracts, up from $13.3 billion in
fiscal 2001 and $12 billion in 2000.

For the year, Defense Department contract awards totaled $170.8 billion,
$26.2 billion more than fiscal 2001.

The remaining top 10 contractors were: Northrop Grumman Corp. with $8.7
billion; Raytheon Co. and General Dynamics Corp., both with $7.0
billion; United
Technologies Corp. with $3.6 billion; Science Applications International
Corp. with $2.1 billion; TRW Inc. with $2.0 billion; Health Net Inc. and
L-3 Communications
Holdings Inc., both with $1.7 billion.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------

You see, a War Biz Co's customer(US Defence Dept) wants to bogart that
new technology and doesn't allow the War Biz Co. to strut its stuff to
other customers(govt.s)..... until....... CNN coverage of the next
war!!! This Free advertisement saves War Biz Co's millions on
advertisement and opens up their wares to world wide markets(otherwise
illegal for them to do)...!!!

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II: Mediation UnAmerican?
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------

$170.8 billion on new War Biz contracts....

...and did this big money save us from the last round of North Korea war
threats...?

...no, a private citizen(Jimmy Carter) saved us....

...and to rescue american hostages in Bagdad just before the Gulf War,
did that big money save them?

....no, a private citizen(Mohammed Ali negotiated their release and)
saved them...

....my home town mediation service statistics show 80% of conflicts are
resolved if both parties sit down to mediation...

...if mediation works and war doesn't....

...then why are there statues of war heroes and not mediation heroes?

...why is the American Dream more apt to be one of Stubborness than
Flexibility?

...doesn't "Checks and Balances" imply ........

...responding to the results of the "Checks"....?

....getting back into "Balance"....?

Could this happen in the US: in the UK about a year ago, some
ex-members of their "UK cabinet" gave a day long workshop on a "Peace
Tax" proposal....

....their "Peace Tax" proposal was to give each taxpayer the choice to
divert that portion of his/her taxes that would go to defense....

...to go to promoting peace.... such as.. ....to study and manifest
International Conflict Resolution...

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III: Stubborness "on the rise"
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There are two types of people, Stubborn people and Flexible people.

Mr. Stubborn resists trying new things.

Mr. Flexible tries new things.

One day Mr. Flexible tries stubborness.

Now Mr. Flexible is stubborn, Mr. Flexible can't change back to
flexibility because now Mr. Flexible is stubborn.

Moral to the Story: The Universe tends towards Stubborness...

...if you want to be flexible enough to try stubborness, choose to be
stubborn about one thing first:

Flexibility."

If confrontation/persuasion doesnt work, try mediation.
If one form of protest doesnt work, try something else.

Please reply.

Warmest Regards,
Jeff "ReplyAll.org" Brooks
