wouldn't hurt to call and ask for the domestic contact

A Key Victory on Estrada Nomination
May Be Just 24 Hours Away
Republican Senate Leadership Calls Vote
 to Try to End Filibuster
Urge Your Senators to Vote NO on Cloture*!

Your help is needed today to deal a serious blow to
President Bush's court-packing scheme . Yesterday,
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist announced that a
vote would be taken this Thursday, March 6th, on
whether to end the debate -- in essence, the
filibuster -- on the stealth nomination of Miguel
Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District
of Columbia Circuit. The clock is now ticking -- it's
time for last-minute calls to your senators.

There is every reason to believe that your calls and
letters over the past month have helped convince at
least 41 senators to support the Estrada filibuster.
But there is one enormous reason why you should call
your senators again: the vote on Thursday is the first
floor vote that counts in sending President Bush the
strongest possible message that his court-packing plan
won't work.

The fight has begun and will have a lasting impact on
the federal courts so instrumental to protecting your
constitutional and civil rights. If you're looking
for inspiration for this round of calls, read the
opinion piece on what's at stake in the Estrada battle
by United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta.

Then, call your senators toll-free at 1-888-508-2974
and tell them to vote NO on cloture for the Miguel
Estrada nomination this Thursday!

*In order to end a Senate filibuster on a bill or
nomination, 60 senators must vote in favor of what's
called cloture. If 41 senators vote "no" on cloture,
the filibuster may continue. Senators have the option
of calling for multiple cloture votes, but the
filibuster cannot be ended until one of these votes
attracts the support of 60 senators.
