On Friday, my neighbor saw a jeep wrangler pull up next to her yard and pull
out her "No Iraq war" sign. She ran out of her house while the theives were
attempting to remove my sign. They saw her, shouted "Let's Go!" and took
off, but not before she got their license plate number.

She called the police, an officer came over, and while she was giving the
officer the details, another officer called to say they had caught the
culprits. They asked her what she wanted to do. She asked what her options
were. The most punitive response was a $150 fine. The three culprits were
17 year old males. My neighbor decided to make the thieves return the signs.
They brought them back, escorted by the police, and apologized saying it was
just a "joke." My neighbor explained that it wasn't a joke but was
stealing. He further explained that we all support our troops but disagree
with the reason they are in Iraq. Two of the three kids looked scared and
embarassed.

One week ago the four NO Iraq War signs in my neighborhood were all stolen.
We reported this to the police and my neighbor had kept her drapes slightly
crackedsince so she could watch for any potential thieves. Her quick action
combined with the cooperation of the police caught the thieves and got us
our signs back!
