WILL AM-580 is broadcasting a series of what looks to be a critical look at
patriotism and a serious look at grassroots activism in some of the stories
featured below in a radio project that airs beginning today called "Whose
Democracy Is It?"

people from making their voices heard in elections
and shows how these barriers
could affect the 2004 election.
Tue. 4 3pm Democracy on the Block
A tour of New York City to look at some of the
quirky, idealistic and
"unofficial" democracies that play a
significant role in Americans' lives.
Wed. 5 3pm You Can Fight City Hall
The story of two grassroots fights against Chicago's
political machine.
3:30 Participation and the Common Good
Stories from people about their involvement in civil
society beyond voting.
Thur. 6 3pm The Culture of Patriotism
Looks at expressions of patriotism in culture, from
flag-waving to
finger-pointing then and now. How the messages have
been send and how
they have been received by a nation often hungry for
reassurance.
Fri. 7 3pm The President Calling
What the taped telephone conversations of John F,.
Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson
and Richard Nixon reveal about the inner
workings of the presidency.
* There will also be some feature material related to the Collaboration
included by NPR as part of Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
We will insert some features produced by Collaboration members into
