DAN RABINOWITZ is one of Israel's most prominent
public intellectuals.
A
regular contributor to Ha'aretz, the country's leading
newspaper, he
has
emerged as one of the most influential critics of
Israeli policy and
the
Sharon government. Rabinowitz is Professor of
Anthropology at Tel Aviv
University and president of the Israeli
Anthropological Association. An
expert on Israeli and Palestinian culture and history,
he is the author
of the widely acclaimed book Oberlooking Nazareth: The
Ethnography of
Exclusion in the Galilee (Cambridge University Press,
1997) as well as
numerous influential essays (along with countless
publications in
Hebrew). Rabinowitz is currently in the United States
as Visiting
Professor at New York University and Princeton
University.
