Be at 801 E. California (corner of Webber) at 8:15 pm
this Tuesday, September 23, with pen and paper, and
we’ll write letters, swap ideas, commiserate, joke,
snack, etc. for a couple of hours!

If you need better directions, email me individually
at baldwinricky at yahoo.com.

Carl’s news of the week always has plenty of good (if
you can call such news ‘good’) material to work with.
Below are a few other items that deserve a good
response from us, and there are many more. Bring your
own ideas, or help yourself to those of others!

Oh- and if youthink this party is a good idea, thank
Lisa - it's hers. If you don't, well, just be that
way.

Today’s News-Gazette: Stepped-up attacks result in
mistakes (AP), p.A-1, re recent US troops shooting
Iraqi police, wedding goers, etc. [as Doug notes, US
troops shooting at anything that moves – can we really
call this a ‘mistake’? or, better yet, maybe the whole
Iraq policy is/was a ‘mistake’?]

Yesterday’s N-G: No evidence of small pox -
Three-month search in Iraq turns up nothing (AP), p.
A-3, re Bush Admin used fears of small pox to build
support for invasion of Iraq, vaccinated military and
medical personnel unnecessarily [scare tactics, more
lies, putting innocents at risk]

Also in yesterday’s N-G: Bush to push for UN
resolution (AP), p. A-2, re Bush Admin’s attempt to
get other countries to shoulder the [read: ‘white
man’s’?] burden in Iraq, disagreement over when Iraqis
get control of their own country and how much
authority the US will retain

Also in yesterday’s N-G: Explosion rocks Afghan town
(AP), p. A-2, re bomb went off in Bagram, where US hq
is located [was Afghanistan a ‘success’? do Aghanis
want US there?]
