South Asian Collective
presents
Screening of the Documentary Film

Naata: The Bond
Directed by Anjali Monteiro and KP Jayasankar

Venue: 386 Armory
(Corner of Armory & 5th)
Date: April 23rd, 2004
Time: 7:30 PM

Naata is about Bhau Korde and Waqar Khan, two activists and friends, who have been involved in
conflict resolution, working with neighborhood peace committees in Dharavi, reputedly the largest
“slum” in Asia. This film explores their work, which has included the collective production and
use of visual media for ethnic amity.

Naata, among other things, is an attempt to reflect on how we relate to spaces of the other,
spaces like Dharavi.
