Well, U.S. Customs realizes the very terrible
consequences of mad cow disease Sevhilla Mann is going
to talk about. I just came in from France to the 
states with my friend Michele (who was born in France
but came to the States to do research) who said to me
that she is staying away from about 50% of the foods
in
Europe that is responsible for mad cow.

Ever since the mad cow epidemic in Europe a few years
ago, U.S. Customs is still trying to keep mad cow
disease out of the USA. They now require ALL
returning U.S. residents from foreign countries to
notify U.S. customs officials if....

1. You ever been to a farm, especially a farm
   where cows are bred.
2. You stayed at a bed-and-breakfast.
3. You touched or had close exposure to any cow
   breed, whether or not those cows had mad cow.
4. You went to a non-farm area where livestock is
   raised, slaughtered, or displayed (or been to
   its vicinity).

Failure to do so, or saying you did not do these
things by way of lying about it, will subject you
to a very hefty fine by U.S. Customs--up to $1,000.
