AWARE meeting minutes 3-21-04

1. Introductions
2. News of the Week with Carl, posted separately
3. Working Group Reports
--Final report on March 20 event: about 200 people attended, $225 in
donations received, which will help to offset event costs
--Treasurer's report: about $1600 in the account
--Lawyer meeting scheduled for Mar 31 to discuss police issues. Carl,
Ricky, others will attend.
--Tasers: Champaign City Council study session will be on Tues, 3-23 at
7 pm
--Next Prospect for Peace the first Sat in April
--Tabling/Literature: Several events coming up where tabling will be
necessary. Peter is collecting names of people interested in helping
with this. Events included: Earth Day Festival on April 15 (Illini
Union), Chuck D appearance (April 9).
--Taste of Champaign--AWARE will purchase table space ($65) for this
event, to be held June 25-27. A great tabling opportunity!
4. New Stuff
--Carl is organizing two events. One isa lunch date on Mar 30 with
Alison Weir of "If Americans Knew." She is a reporter on Middle East
Affairs. Time and place TBA. The other is an appearance by Jeffrey
Sinclair, of Counterpunch. Date, time, place TBA, probably second week
in April.
