"Dispatches from Rebel Mexico"
Friday 11/12/04
7:30 pm
Allen Hall Main Lounge

Many of the roots of the worldwide global justice movement's
struggle can be found in rural and indigenous
Mexico. "Dispatches From Rebel Mexico" is the firsthand
account of these movements from a self-proclaimed
revolutionary tourist which is alternately inspiring,
dramatic, and absurdist.

Award-winning filmmaker Greg Berger, winner of the Latin
American Studies Association's 2004 merit in film award,
presents excerpts from his numerous films on grassroots
struggles for democracy, autonomy and social justice in
contemporary Mexico. Films include "Atenco: The Machete
Rebellion" and "Tlalnepantla: The Price of Democracy."
