A law was passed that required colleges to allow military recruitment on
campus or lose their federal funding.  A Federal court ruled that this
violates school's first amendment rights (since the military discriminates
based on sexual orientation, schools should have the right to not allow them
to speak), which effectively allows schools to not allow military recruiters
on campus.   The federal ruling is expected to go to the supreme court this
spring.  Note this only currently protects schools that actively decide to
not allow military recruitment on campus.
