Dear colleagues,
Please distribute this announcement to all individuals, organizations, faculty members, students, agencies, and others whom you believe may be interested in participating. Thank you!
Amsterdam, June 6 - June 17, 2005
Programme Directors: Gerd Junne, PhD, Universiteit van Amsterdam and Allen J. Zerkin, J.D, New York University
The Summer Institute on Conflict Management and Resolution is a two-week academic programme for people who recognise that one's ability to manage and resolve conflict is a key to personal effectiveness. In the international arena - whether one's work is management, policy and program planning, or finance - the cross-cultural dimension complicates the normal challenges of managing conflict, negotiating and mediating. Through lectures, discussions, opportunities for self-reflection, and many 'hands-on' exercises, the programme integrates theory and practice, allowing participants to develop their levels of both understanding and competence. Particular emphasis will be placed on negotiation and mediation skills, organizational conflict and the management of change - all with an eye toward cross-cultural differences. The programme will be led by the two co-directors and enriched by presentations from guest faculty with special areas of expertise. The Summer Institute is open to both graduate students and working professionals. For the latter, the course promises to yield immediate benefits on the job.
