1. News of the Week: Carl Estabrook: racism in the
coverage of New Orleans

2. Introductions

3. New Ideas: 

Attendance at Jim Lehrer WILL event (suggested in
absentia by Paul Mueth) - to ask questions or leaflet?
Will discuss next week.

Unity March (CU Peace and Justice)

 - Brian Dolinar

Request of $250 to support fliering, other PR, and
reception after Unity March on Saturday, October 8th.
The theme of the March is "Prevention not Detention."

1. Support Diversity study by County Board

2. Demand alternatives to expanding the jail system,
which would not be needed if the inmate population
were not to increase.

3. Champaign Police Review Board 

The next meeting for those interested in planning the
Unity March is this Saturday at the IMC, 1 p.m.

We will vote on this request at this Sunday's meeting.


4. Working Groups

Finance: $2545, which includes money recouped from bus
reservation and up-to-date Farmers Market receipts.

Farmers Market: New buttons, signs, stickers

Main Event: Good event last Saturday, 30+ people, will
go ahead with the 3rd Saturday event on the 16th, 6 to
8.

Sept 24th: first bus is full, Durl is looking into a
second bus, still iffy depending on price and
commitments of riders.

AWARE Presents: A no-go for a forum on Muslim women at
the Vineyard, explained by Annette Williams. Will
continue to look for a mainline church to host such an
event.

Mohammed al-Heeti's Sept. 19th talk has since been
cancelled, due to stresses on his family related to
the war.

Eyes Wide Open: This four day event also includes
Kathy Kelly's visit on the 16th, event at Newman
Center on the 17th. Much help needed at each
site--Quad Friday, downtown Champaign Saturday,
Douglass Park Sunday, Parkland Monday. Contact Carol
Inskeep.

Approved $200 to support mailing, plus $25 for fliers.

Next working group for Eyes Wide Open: Carol's house,
this Thursday at 7:30.

5. Past Week

WEFT meeting concerning Randall Cotton's banning from
station: will discuss further. Contact Mick Wolff,
station manager, if you care to support Randall.
