My apologies for the late posting:

AWARE Minutes, 9/18/05

Facilitator: Durl Kruse
Minutes: David Green
Time: Bob Illyes

1. News of the Week (posted separately); comments:
Hunger strike at Guantanamo, Hugo Chavez and President
of Iran address UN, insurance scams subsequent to
Katrina.

2. Introductions: 18 present: new attendee, Amanda
Hall, recently arrived from Evansville, IN

3. New Ideas: Approve co-sponsorship of IDF Human
Rights Film Series and speaker sponsored by South
Asian Collective.

4. Working Groups:

Main Event: another successful event, with some
joining spontaneously; while it will be darker
earlier, the view was expressed that the street is
well lit enough to continue for at least one more
month at later hours.

Sept. 24: Two buses full, may take some off waiting
list if checks not received. The bus will leave from
the IMC at 7:30 on Friday. Sender-offers are welcomed.

Counter-recruitment: Note made of the trial of the
“St. Patrick’s 4” in Binghampton, NY: See
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0915-34.htm

Randall Cotton: He has since not been recalled by WEFT
Associates, due primarily to support from AWARE
members; he could use some help scheduling
documentaries in UPTV, according to one attendee.

Eyes Wide Open: A successful and moving display, on
Quad, Westside Park, Douglas Park, and Carle Park,
including visits from relatives of war dead.

5. Last Week’s Events:

Kathy Kelly was eloquent and varied in her comments
over the weekend at Y and Newman Center.

Attendees of Jim Lehrer WILL event were leafleted.

6. Discussion: Regarding Discussion Guidelines at
AWARE meetings.
