------------------------------

Each spring, the IDF hosts the Human Rights Film Series. Our series was so
popular last spring, we decided to an additional series this fall. This
fall's film series will be kicked off by the showing of "Howard Zinn: You
Can't Be Neutral On A Moving Train."

"Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train" documents the life and
times of the historian, activist and author of the best-selling classic "A
People's History of the United States." Featuring rare archival materials,
interviews with Howard Zinn as well as colleagues and friends including Noam
Chomsky, Marian Wright Edelman, Daniel Ellsberg, Tom Hayden and Alice
Walker.

"You Can't Be Neutral" captures the essence of this activist and thinker who
has been a catalyst for progressive change for more than 60 years. As Noam
Chomsky said of him, "it is no exaggeration to say he has changed the
consciousness of a generation."

The film will be shown with a projector and free snacks will be provided!
Jeff Machota, a longtime activist and organizer in the Champaign-Urbana
community, will be facilitating the discussion following the film. Jeff has
worked on many important issues from struggling for the divestment of
investments from apartheid South Africa to fighting for the removal of the
racist "Chief Illiniwek." He is currently an IDF Board member and sits on
the national staff of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) amongst
his other jobs.

Next in the fall's Human Rights Film Series, the IDF will also show "The
Revolution Will Not Be Televised" on October 6th, "Lost Boys of Sudan" on
October 13th, and "Operation: Veteran Freedom" on October 20th. The films
will all begin at 7pm and will be shown at the Illinois Disciples
Foundation.**

The Human Rights Film Series is cosponsored by: Activist Forum, Amnesty
International #124, Anti-War Anti-Racism Effort (AWARE), Council on
