1. News of the Week (10 minutes) Leading Candidate  Rene Preval has not been elected in Haiti, Cheney shoots fellow hunter and more -Carl Estabrook(check Anti-War.net for recent news postings)
 
 2. Introductions (5 minutes)(Approximately 20 people present)
 
 3. New Ideas: (15 minutes)
 
 New meeting time? Some mentioned that they would prefer an earlier meeting time but others pointed out the need for ample time  for an announcement to get out before a change is made. One suggested that there could be an earlier time one Sunday a month. Most present did not have a desire to change the meeting day. People interested in changing the meeting times should come to the next meeting and or post something to the peace-discuss lists.   
 
 Darfur- Brian Schwartz from Action Darfur (UIUC student group chapter of STAND) asked AWARE to co-sponsor an event (Feb20-24) called the Week of Awareness which will provide information the conditions in Western Sudan which have been called a genocide by the US government. AWARE declined to Co Sponsor the event and called for more discussion. Next week we will show a short film and discuss further the nine questions about the dangers of military intervention posted to the lists by T. Mackaman. Speaker Simon Deng will talk about his experiences as a former slave and the need for action on Wed Feb 22 at 700PM at 112 Gregory Hall.
 
 A call to show the Agronomist a recent video that talks about the situation in Haiti 
 
 4. Working Groups: (30 minutes)
 
 Finances
 
 Main Event-Protest will be 1 Saturday of the month at 1 Main ST. Champaign
 AWARE Presents- Reporter Anthony Shadid will speak at First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, IL
 Church Presence- Linda reports mixed success at the Vineyard (frustration) but Annette reports an overall good reaction.
 
 Urbana City Council Resolution- End the Occupation Resolution will be brought before the council Tuesday Feb 21st at 700pm at 400 S Vine St. in Urbana.
 
 Counter-recruitment-No New Info
 
 Patrick Thompson Case-Bob Ilyes-Patrick still looking for funding in defense of his first amendment rights see website circuitct at co.champaign.il.us
 
 5. Last Week's Events (15 minutes for 5 and 6)
 
 Iraq Vet Dave Adams- Good event. Article in Saturday’s NG talked about it in detail  
 
 Jobs for Justice –25 people at event which was protesting construction of two  hotels by non-unionized labor imported by  Tatman’s construction. Boycotts of this business were mentioned as possible response.
 
 
 6. Upcoming Events
   CU citizens meet 400 at the IMC to discuss Thompson's case and other examples of racism in CU area
