Dear friends and neighbors,

On Tuesday, March 14, three restaurants in Urbana will participate in
Share-A-Meal with Community Shares to help raise funds for dozens of
community groups, including the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center.

You can help the IMC by sharing a meal with family and friends at Milo's,
Kennedy's, or Silvercreek.

These restaurants will donate 30% of their proceeds to Community Shares of
Illinois and their member organizations. During the meal, you can
designate which charity you wish to to benefit from your meal. We hope
you will designate the IMC! (See more about what's up with the IMC below).

What's up with the Independent Media Center
--------------------------------------------
The IMC has just finished construction and working to establish regular,
open hours for the public. If you can help staff, e-mail staff at ucimc.org.

WRFU 104.5 FM is filling up with diverse, eclectic programming. The group
recently decided to fill open time with the work of local musicians. Are
you a local musician or friends with one? Drop a CD off at the IMC to add
to our system. Interested in hosting a show? See: wwww.wrfu.net.

The IMC's community stage has already seen local and international talent
in its smoke-free all ages venue. Over 300 people showed up to see UC Hip
Hop and local poetic and musical talent at the Slam Jam Romp Stomp. Tim
Reynolds, the guitarist for Dave Matthews, played at the IMC last month
dressed in a tutu and alligator hat from the IMC's costume closet. WRFU
can stream shows live from the stage over the radio.

Eleven artists now have studio space at the IMC. We are working towards
opening a gallery. There are only two studio spaces left. If you are
interested in studio space, contact space at ucimc.org.

Books to Prisoners has set up a Liberation Bookstore on the first floor.
Come browse the selection. All proceeds benefit Books to Prisoners and
the IMC. Find out more: www.books2prisoners.org

We now have working audio and print production studios and are re-building
our video workstation. Production studios are open to the public.

Producer Spotlight: Tamika Jackson, a student at UIUC, is heading up a
crew of a dozen volunteers to produce Inside Out at the IMC to be aired on
Urbana's Public Access Station (UPTV Channel 6). Inside Out is a weekly
show with a live audience interviewing local and national talent.
