[Peace] Eyes Wide Open - Please Forward

Eyes Wide Open - Illinois
  "An exhibit that speaks directly to our hearts 
  and reminds us of the human cost of war."
  Tuesday, September 5 from 8am - 4pm
  UI Quad on the English Building lawn (west side)
   
  What is Eyes Wide Open Illinois? Eyes Wide Open is an exhibit created by the American Friends Service Committee in Chicago. It includes one hundred and one pairs of empty combat boots, each tagged with the name of an Illinois soldier who has died in the Iraq war. There will also be a memorial to the thousands of Iraqi civilians who have died during the conflict. Local religious organizations and community groups are working together to bring the exhibit to Champaign Urbana.
   
    Co-sponsors include First Mennonite Church, St. Patrick’s Social Action Committee, UC Friends Meeting, Arab Students Association, Activist Forum, Progressive Resource/Action Coaoperative, Illinois Disciples Foundation, Community United Church of Christ, University YMCA, UC Vietnam Veterans Against the War, St. Jude Catholic Worker House, Union of Professional Employees, Social Action Committee of the McKinley Presbyterian Foundation, Prairie Greens, the Chapel of St. John the Divine, AWARE, UIUC Campus Greens, School for Designing a Society, Unitarian Universalist Social Action Committee, the Episcopal Chapel of St. John the Divine, the Infant-Parent Institute, Students for a Democratic Society & the Jewish Social Justice Network of Champaign County
