Annette mentioned at tonight's AWARE meeting that
this Tuesday's Champaign City Council study session
includes discussion on the Township.

Sure enough, the agenda for the Tuesday, April 24th, 7:00 PM,
meeting Champaign City Council Chambers opens with a

"Join Township/City Presentation of the Township Budget Analysis"

Should be important.

There's also presentation of the FY 07-08 budget -- I assume that
that's the city's budget as opposed to the township's, but
show up and see.

Also, it was announced last month that the Hindu Temple siting
issue will be considered at this week's Champaign County
Zoning Board of Appeals meeting:

   Thursday, April 26th
Time: likely either 6:30PM or 7:00PM (notice not posted yet)
Brookens Administrative Center, one of the meeting rooms
(Washington & Lierman in Urbana; use the northeast
door off the parking lot on Lierman, as the main
doors on Washington are closed at that hour.)

The issue last was raised at a March 15th meeting; the minutes of
that aren't yet posted, but here's the agenda item from then:

    Case 560-S-06:

Petitioner: The Hindu Temple & Cultural Society of Central Illinois
		and Shiv Kapor

Request: Authorize the establishment and use of a Temple and
Cultural Center as Special Use in the AG-1, Agriculture
		Zoning District.

Location: A 40 acre parcel that is South ½ of the North ½ of the
Southwest ¼ of Section 14 of Hensley Township,
except for the North 100 feet of the West 350 feet of
said area, and located on the east side of County Highway
One and that is commonly known as the field north of the
		Thor-O-Bred Acres Subdivision.

(After some puzzling over maps, it appears that this 40-acre patch
is just northeast of Mattis (= Co. Hwy. 1) and Hensley Rd;
Hensley Rd is 2 miles N of Olympian Drive, 4 miles N of University Ave.)
