Sorry for the late notice... On Wednesday morning 12/19,
from around 9am until noon, the Central Illinois Mosque
and Islamic Center (106 S. Lincoln, Urbana) will celebrate
Eid ul Adha, the "festival of the sacrifice", commemorating
Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac at God's command.
It also marks the end of the Hajj, for Muslims making the
annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

According to the press release on
   http://www.cimic.org/
ceremonies begin at 9:00am, with prayers beginning at 9:30am sharp.
I heard it suggested that those who wish to celebrate the festival,
but who can't be there for the full 9-noon time, might want
to arrive around 11am. Good food will be served. Visitors are welcome!

   Stuart
