Hi AWARE members,
The IMC currently has no active folk music bookers; we are
experiencing a lull in music bookers in general. If you are
interested in booking shows at the IMC let me know and we can show you
how. It is easy, fun, and a way to earn a little money. More info
here: www.ucimc.org/info/booking.
Below is an anti-war folk musician coming near Urbana looking for a
booker. Please contact him directly if you want to book a show.

Greetings,
I have been referred to you by Jim Barret.
I am a touring folk singer/songwriter who does political satire,
parody, and general social commentary.
I will be touring in the midwest from late June to mid-July, for about
4 weeks and am looking for gigs. I have been active in the anti-war,
labor, and environment movements for 4 decades. Please let me know if
there is a venue for my music at IMC or in your community be it at
your school, activity, coffeehouse, house concert, etc. Below is a
review from a Princeton concert. Attached are a bio and sample poster.

To anti-war, counter recruitment, peace and justice groups, etc.
If at all possible, you should have Tom Neilson perform -- he's really
superb. One of the most politically astute folksingers with an
extraordinary voice I've ever heard. It was a wonderful evening -- the
audience was crazy about him, and many have asked us to have him down
again soon. We raised good money for our sponsored "before you enlist"
documentary. He's also great fun, very warm and engaging, had the
audience laughing, and he spoke to all -- young, old, in-between. He did
a song called "Body Bags" which really speaks to the counter recruitment
movement -- I asked him to sing it for all, and it was very moving. He
has some amazing tunes. A Finalist at Kerrville Songwriters'
competition, he was
called the Jon Stewart of folk music. You should grab him if you can.
