Three things:
(1) Anti-war activist CINDY SHEEHAN to speak at UIUC on 3/1 @ 7 pm!
(2) STUDENT ACTIVIST CONFERENCE on 3/3 from 9:30 – 4:30!
(3) Donate a vehicle to the Y... TODAY!!!

(1) CINDY SHEEHAN on Thursday, March 1st! Her talk, entitled "One Person Can Make a Difference," will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st in 228 Natural History Building.

Cindy Sheehan tells her powerful and provocative story of her work as an anti-war activist that began upon the death of her son, Casey, who was killed on April 4, 2004 on a mission in Iraq. In early August of 2005, Cindy, or "Peace Mom," as she has come to be called, camped in a ditch near President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. She was requesting a personal meeting with the president, who had declared that the fallen soldiers had died for a "noble cause." Contact Rachael Dietkus (rachael at universityymca dot org) for more information!

(2) STUDENT ACTIVIST CONFERENCE is on Saturday, March 3rd! Cindy Sheehan's talk is the pre-conference keynote. The University YMCA is sponsoring a Student Activist Conference in early March with hopes of bringing together all activist groups on campus (be what may their agendas) for a day of workshops, panels, and speakers. The conference will address issues important to all students working to make a difference here on campus and beyond and will be held on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The conference is free, including meals, for all UIUC students. Contact Rachael Dietkus (rachael at universityymca dot org) for more
information!

(3) The YMCA on campus COULD STILL USE THAT USED CAR! Avoid the hassle of a trade-in or time-consuming car sale. Donate a vehicle to the University YMCA and receive a tax donation for the amount the Y is able to sell the car. We accept vehicles, boats, and motorcycles. If you are getting ready to purchase a new vehicle and would like to donate your old one, we would be happy to take it off your hands! For more information, please contact Steve Shoemaker at (217) 337-1500.
