   Champaign County Board's Justice Committee meets to consider
   use of tasers.   If you can go and would be willing to speak,
   please let Brian Dolinar <briandolinar at gmail.com> know.

Mon 1/8  7:00PM Mellon Admin. Center, 703 S. New St., Champaign
   Habari meeting.   It sounds as though this time they'll be
   attending this month's Champaign Unit 4 School Board meeting,
   at the above time & address.

   WEFT board meets.  (Unrelated to AWARE, but some on this list
   might be interested.)

Tue 1/9 7:00 PM  Illinois Disciples Foundation, Springfield&Wright, Champaign

   Citizens' Police Review Board committee meets to consider how to
   proceed, to look at implications of the contract negotiated
   with the Fraternal Order of Police union, etc.


Thu 1/11
   Amnesty International designates this as a day to focus on Guantanamo.
   A dozen or so activists including Cindy Sheehan are heading for
   the Gitmo prison, intending to protest outside its gates and likely
   face arrest; they expect to reach Guantanamo on that day.

Sat 1/27 (leaving Fri 1/26?)
   March on Washington -- "Act Now to End the War" -- organized by
   ANSWER and United for Peace & Justice.  Some sort of carpool/bus
   is being organized, locally by the Campus Anti-War network
   (can.uiuc at gmail.com).

   Another national and hopefully local anti-Iraq-war protest,
   remembering the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

Fri-Sat 3/30-31  UIUC campus - Siebel Building, just north of Uni High
   Illinois Coalition for Peace and Justice annual meeting.
   Lecture room, eight classrooms, and the foyer are reserved for ICPJ.
