The Case for Immediate Withdrawal--video presentation and discussion
Wednesday, March 14, at 7pm in Greg Rm. 113

What: Anthony Arnove, author of Iraq: The Logic of Withdrawal, and Kelly Dougherty, executive director of Iraq Veterans Against the War make the case for why the troops must come home now.
Where: Greg Hall Rm. 113
When: Wednesday, March 14, at 7:00PM
Why?: A debate continues to rage over whether the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops would further decimate the Iraqi people and launch Iraq into a bloody civil war. Both Anthony Arnove and Kelly Dougherty make a solid case as to why the cause of violence in Iraq is rooted in the U.S. occupation. This meeting will arm you with the facts you need to know to help make the case with others as to why we must bring the troops home NOW! Kelly Dougherty speaks of her personal experience serving in Iraq and tells of how she came to the conclusion that the U.S. was not promoting democracy abroad but instead attempting to further U.S. corporate interests. You won't want to miss this meeting! Bring your friends and bring anyone who might be thinking of enlisting in the military to this great counter-recruitment event.

On the 4th Anniversary of the War
 Stop Funding War and Occupation!
 TROOPS HOME NOW!
 MARCH and RALLY

 TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2007
 6:00 PM - Assembly - 24 W. Walton Street
7:30 PM - March - Down Michigan Ave. to Daley Plaza

If you're critical of this war but have never taken part in an antiwar action, now it's even more important than ever to participate. Hundreds of thousands have died, including over 3,000 U.S. soldiers and as many as 650,000 Iraqis - with those numbers growing daily.

Americans have paid roughly half a trillion dollars for the war - including over $20 billion from Illinois residents - all funds that could instead have funded access to quality health care, housing and education. And leaders from both parties have vowed to keep the dollars flowing. Meanwhile, the U.S. government continues to bankroll the brutal occupation of Palestine, support Israeli aggression in Lebanon, continues its 5 year invasion of Afghanistan and threaten future attacks against Iran.

On March 20th, take a stand. Tell the government we want money for human needs, not war and corporate greed

 ABOUT THE M-20 COALITION .

On January 6th, over 100 individuals and representatives of organizations gathered to begin organizing the Chicago area's response to the 4th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The group voted to host a march on Michigan Avenue on the evening of Tuesday, March 20th, followed by a rally at Daley Plaza. As the scene of the largest mass false arrest in Chicago history and an on-going free speech battle with the city, organizing for the right to march on Michigan Avenue was seen as a symbol of the ongoing battle to defend civil liberties in Chicago, and in the nation at large.

Besides embracing the principles of "Stop Funding War & Occupation! Troops Home Now!", co-sponsoring organizations are asked to do the following:

 1. Contribute a minimum of $25 (more if having a float in the march and/or a literature table at the rally). This said, the coalition does not want lack of financial resources to be a barrier to endorsement, and waivers/reductions in fees will be available for those who need them.

 2. Help publicize the march and rally through list serves, snail mailings, and on local web sites.

 3. Take responsibility for putting up M20 posters in businesses / schools / community centers and on bulletin boards in a SPECIFIC area of the city or suburbs.

 4. Designate 1-2 members as coalition workers for on the day of the event, assisting in things like security, funds solicitation, demonstration facilitators , etc. on March 20th. These volunteers will need to attend an orientation meeting a few weeks before March 20th.

For more information, call 773-536-0098, or visit the M20 Coalition website
