Two events coming up -- one today (Friday) and one on Tuesday.
Apologies for the last minute announcement for today's event. The

Bio of Mr. Abdul Hadi Hantash :
Abdul Hadi began his work for the municipality of Hebron in 1978 as a land
surveyor and cartographer. He has continued this field of research for the last
28 years. Today he is an official Consultant to the Palestinian Authorities for

He chairs the Land Defense Committee for the Hebron District in the West Bank.
The committee is a Palestinian NGO that monitors settlement expansion. He has

members), BtSelem, and many smaller groups.

In 2002, Mr. Hantash toured three states: New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania
at the invitation for Americans for Middle East understanding. He spoke of his
work to universities, human rights groups, and various religious institutions.
He was very well received.

States and visited Washington DC twice. He spoke with over 30 Congressional

                              'NIGHT OF BEAUTY'

On November 13th at 6:30pm a program entitled 'Night of Beauty' will
be held in Room 407 of the Illini Union.  All are invited.

The program will begin with a short explanation, and then followed
with a recitation of the Qur'an by Br. Abdul Hakeem.  Next, Naseer
Yahya will do a large-scale demonstration of classical Islamic
calligraphy.  Finally, there will be a poetry session: it will
feature poets delivering in a variety of languages simultaneously
translated into English.

The intent is to engage the relationship of Muslims to their religion
from their own perspectives.  It is to highlight the beauty we find
in the revelation from our Prophet (SAW)--in the beauty produced and
present around us - as well as that which exists hidden within each
of us.

Visit the website for more information:  http://beauty13.blogspot.com

'Night of Beauty' is sponsored by Muslim Women's Outreach, CIMIC
Outreach Committee, the Muslim Students' Association, and Council for
American-Islamic Relations UIUC.
