You are invited to come to a presentation and discussion period featuring Hector Mondragon - a Mennonite and activist from Colombia.  The topic will be related to strategies for peace in Colombia, the root causes of poverty and the effects of U.S. policy on Colombia.  The presentation will be at 6:30 pm on Sunday, September 7 at the First Mennonite Church at the corner of Springfield and Lincoln in Urbana.Hector Mondragon is an economist and lives in Colombia where he works with various peasant and indigenous organizations.  He has worked as a consultant with the Colombian Congress, the World Bank and the Organization of American States on issues of indigenous rights, the rights of small farmers and effects of trade and development policies.  He has been active in human rights and economic and social development policy since the 1960s.  Mr. Mondragon has received many death threats.  Please do not include his name on any web site.  You are welcome to e-mail other people who might be interested in attending the presentation and discussion period.This presentation and discussion period promises to be a stimulating and important session.
