street demonstration

April 4-6 (Friday-Sunday): Illinois Coalition for Peace and Justice
conference in Chicago. Mort may be interested. Others encouraged.

Minutes:

Finance Report: $200 from local supporter in the past week (identity
announced at the meeting). $2122.43.

Main Event: Next Main Event is this Saturday.  Flyer passed around from
UFPJ with AWARE info added in. Heading suggested for flyer to remind
people of the 5 year observance of the War's beginning. Kruses may not be
available to help this Sat, backup requested, obtained (Karen/Shara).
David will take care of printing and get materials to Kruses.

AWARE presents: Recent meeting cancelled, rescheduled this Tuesday 7PM at
Kruses. Idea put forth for a panel discussion regarding Iran. Bob Naiman
to be apprised.

More Kinzer/Just Foreign Policy postcards needed - will contact Bob
Naiman.

Anti-Racism: CUCPJ (Champaign-Urbana Citizens for Peace and Justice)
project moving forward that analyzes Champaign County criminal case data
in past years to identify hard evidence of disparities in the criminal
justice system. Working meeting next Saturday (4PM, IMC main floor by the
library).

Iran: "Persepolis" showing at Art Theater mentioned.

Blackwater: working group meeting anticipated in near future.

AWARE on the Air: Recording of the show is 2PM Mondays. Participants
requested and encouraged. Recording is half an hour. Urbana City Council
Chambers.

Events of Past Week: SIU Edwardsville event with poet/author Naomi Shihab
Nye on Feb. 19: Part of an SIU series that involves local elementary/high
schools. The event itself even involved performances by local children.
200-250 in attendance (!). Coordinator is Education professor Gloria
Reading. Reading reached out to local schools and is also working with
them to teach Arabic literature into the classroom.
