Hello to everyone at AWARE from St. Jude's Catholic Worker House! On
June 24th we will be hosting Pastors for Peace. We would love for AWARE
members to attend. The speaker will be Carol Cross (see bio below).
Everyone is welcome at the house at 7pm. There will be snacks and
music, dinner will be served around 8pm.

Pastors for Peace are touring their way across the US before leaving
to Cuba. They call domestic and international attention to the cruel
and immoral US economic blockade by delivering humanitarian aid to
our sisters and brothers in Cuba without asking permission for a US
Treasury Department license. They form a crucial part of the worldwide
campaign to end the blockade and create normal relations between the US
and Cuba. They challenge US policy and call for an end to this insidious
and immoral policy.

Please come support Pastors for Peace and invite Friends!

en solidaridad, Carly Guerriero, St. Jude's Catholic Worker

CAROL CROSS
Carol Cross, a retired bilingual kindergarten teacher, first went
to Cuba as a tourist over New Year’s of 1993. The reality of Cuba,
even at the depths of its Special Period, contrasted so sharply with
what she had been led to believe by the US media in conjunction with
successive US administrations, that she came home at once furious with
the US overnment and determined to do whatever she could to lift this
country’s cruel and senseless embargo and get the truth out about Cuba.

Since then, Carol has traveled to Cuba over twenty more times, and has
no intention ever of obeying the immoral laws of the blockade. She has
worked tirelessly in a number of Cuba solidarity organizations, and since
her retirement has devoted most of her time to spreading the truth about
Cuba. To that end, she has made several PowerPoint presentations. They
allow her to talk about her favorite subject, Cuba! and the fact that
the Cuban government is perhaps the one government on the face of the
earth that is working to better the lives of ordinary working people.

Her other activities include being an active member of the Social Action
Committee at her Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, serving as a board
member on the Mid-Peninsula Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union,
and being involved in several peace and justice groups.
