Many ideas from the Eyes Wide Open folks for more action...

From: Anna Springer <asprin1 at luc.edu>
Subject: Eyes Wide Open

My name is Anna Springer and I am working with the American Friends
Service Committee in Chicago. We are in the process of organizing a
Peace Voter Education Campaign from now until the November election.
Your organization previously hosted an Eyes Wide Open exhibit, and we
believe that it is crucial to keep the issue of the Iraq War alive and
to show voters in your area the continuing human and economic cost of
that war. We are wondering if your organization would be interested in
continuing your involvement with the Eyes Wide Open campaign or if you
would be interested in any of our other Peace voter education materials.

Some possible options for your organization are:

•	Hosting the Eyes Wide Open exhibit: We have added a small
display, The War Within, that discusses the growing epidemic of veteran
suicides in Illinois and calls for veteran care reform. Hosting the
event again would both reach a new audience and allow people to see the
hidden costs of war displayed by the War Within.
•	The Cost of War exhibit: This features 10 7-foot flags
representing the budgetary tradeoffs of the One-Day Cost of War, which
is $720 Million. The exhibit also has banners you can hang on your
meeting house, brochures and other supplementary educational materials
•	Speak for Peace Tour: We have a staff of Iraqis, Iraq veterans
and other great speakers who can come to your community to share their
experiences.
•	Counter recruitment materials: We have an alternative to the
military guide specific to your state that is geared towards high school
students in addition to many leaflets, films and other organizing tools
to help curb military recruitment in our schools.
•	Middle East materials: We have developed an Iraq 101
presentation and have many other materials and resources available about
Iraq, Israel/Palestine and the growing refugee crisis in the region. We
also offer fair trade Palestinian olive oil, whose proceeds benefit
Palestinian farmers.

Thank you so much for your support and cooperation during this important
and pressing pre-election season. For information or to discuss options
for your organization, please contact:
