The killing of civilians is abhorrent regardless of who dies and who does the killing. However, linking or likening the condemnation of Israel's action to the condemnation of Hamas' risks over simplifying the conflict or misrepresnting the two sides as if they were equal, which they are far from.

Just by looking at the casualties of the last five days, one isreali civilian and two invading soliders where killed, while 116 Palestians were killed by Israel military, most of them women and children, and hundreds more injured. Furthermore, you have Hamas leaders threatening to blow up the border wall to "break out of the prison" that is Gaza, while Israeli leader threatening Gaza with Shoah, a holocaust.

Leveling an equal amount of condemnation to both sides for the sake "even-handedness" is actually misleading, and ends up presenting a casual observer with the worng understanding of the conflict.

Furthermore, there is an argument of causality and legitmiacy of claims with respect to Palestinian rights and israeli claimes that their actions are mere response to Hamas', while Qassam Rockets are the product of the last few years, Israel has carried out these practices since 1948. But this conversation can be addressed on a different day.

  Hope this answers you questions,

  Sincerely,
  Fayyad

will there also be a condemnation of hamas for using rockets to kill Israeli civilians also. Which if stopped would cause Israel to cease their current aggresive operations in the Gaza.

Should we not protest the killing of any civilians whether Israeli or Palestinian?
