Political Forum on the Environment
Tuesday evening candidates for local government office will present
their views at the 4th biannual Political Forum on the Environment
hosted by the Prairie Group of the Sierra Club, a local environmental
organization. The Forum will be an opportunity to hear the views of
those running for the Illinois House, 103rd and 104th Districts, and for
U.S. Congress, 15th District. Panelists will respond to questions from
the Sierra Club and from the audience. The panel will include Naomi
Jakobsson (incumbent, D) and Frank Calabrese (R), candidates for 103rd
District, Illinois State House Representative; Bill Black (incumbent, R),
candidate for 104th District, Illinois State House Representative; and
Phil Bloomer (representing Tim Johnson, incumbent, R) and Steve Cox (D),
candidates for Illinois 15th District, U. S. Congress. In addition,
52nd district Illinois State Senator Mike Frerichs, although not
running for re-election this year, will be a forum panelist.
The Forum will be held at 7 PM, September 9th at the Urbana City Council
Chambers, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana.
