[Peace] [CIMIC-Announce] Books and Education for Prisoners -- a panel on campus

Dear subscribers to the CIMIC Events Announcement List,

Greetings and good morning.

I want to bring your attention to the following event tomorrow. A number 
of CIMIC volunteers are active with the Books 2 Prisoners program, and the 
following event has been put together by a newly-formed Books 2 Prisoners 
student organization on campus whose main purpose is to highlight the 
importance and awareness of such programs.


ILLINI BOOKS TO PRISONERS PRESENTS:

PRISON PANEL
The Importance of Education Among Prisoners


Discussion on various educational initiatives to uplift
the prison population of America rather than consign-
ing them to a vicious cycle of hopelessness. Panel in-
cludes a former inmate offering intimate insight into
the reality of the prison system, a professor describ-
ing the transformative power of education from her
experience teaching inmates, and a representative
from the organization responsible for the mass dis-
semination of literature to Illinois inmates.
