[PEACE] Help needed for Projects to be completed at Catholic Worker House

Dear friends,

 

Please find below a list of the projects at Catholic Worker House that need to be completed by August 28, in order to meet the fire code requitements. Catholic Worker House faces fines of $750.00 per day, if these projects are not completed by the 28th, when another fire code inspection will take place. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, August 15.

 

Please consider the projects listed here by Dave McCourt, the project leader, and contact Dave directly by his cell phone or email to let him know what you can do.

I hope this finds you all well.  We will be hitting the list of code violations hard on SAT. AUG. 15th at 8:00 a.m.
 
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE (or even interested).  Use this e-mail or call my cell at 202-2365.
 
The Catholic Worker House is closed the entire month of August for routine maintenence and will reopen on Sept. 1st.  It will reopen only if it fixes ALL of the code violations cited by the City of Champaign.  Reinspection will be on Aug. 28th.
 
If anyone knows of someone who can do Foundation work or cut in and install new windows please let me know.  This work needs professionals and must start soon in order to get done by reinspection.
Conrad and I were able to complete 3-4 items last Saturday in a couple hours.
 
Below is a list of what we will try to accomplish:
 
 
Below is the list of work yet to accomplish: 

The Main CWH needs the following work:
-- remove and replace a bathroom light/fan combo.
--adjust a fire door to latch upon closing -COMPLETE
--put a cover over a hole behind a door where the knob hits.PURCHASED/NEEDS INSTALL
--remove standard hinges and replace with spring/self closing hinges.
--3 exit signs need to be checked and or replaced.2 FIXED/RPL BACKUP BATTERIES PURCHASED
--a couple windows need to be made to work "easily" to meet egress.
--Check out and fix minor plumbing leak on the boiler.
--install 2 CO detectors

--Hardwire 5-6 smoke detectors.
 
The annex also needs to have a few wrap up items done and two major ones:
--install 2 CO detectors
--remove and replace a bathroom light/fan combo
--remove a light fixture and reposition wiring and install ceiling fan.
--Remove 2 old windows, cut in and install new egress windows.
--Foundation repair
 
If you are able to help that would be great, I look forward to fellowship and working with you all and having you meet the volunteers who work everyday to get people a hot meal and a place to stay.
