Thanks to everyone who came out to city council Tuesday night.

For those who could not stay until the end, there was a significant result
of the meeting.
City council member Mike LaDue gained six signatures (only Tom Bruno refused
to endorse) to form a study session on the police "use of force" policy.

The city council was surprised to find that Tasers were already written into
policy, without council being informed, and that wide discretion was being
given to police to use of deadly force as of Oct. 1, 2009.

A full report on Tuesday's session can be found at:

******************************
Thursday, October 22 is a national day of protest against brutality--WEAR
BLACK!
We are holding a march from the Illinois Terminal in downtown Champaign at 4
p.m.
It will conclude at the Boys and Girls Club at 5pm with a chance for youth
to SPEAK OUT! about what's on their minds.
