Rajmohan Gandhi is a human rights and peace activist, a Research
Professor at the Center for South Asian and Middle
Eastern Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and
the President of Initiatives of Change International, an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of
the United Nations. Professor Gandhi is the author of
several notable books, including a biography of Mahatma Gandhi,
Mohandas: A True Story of a Man, His People and an Empire. He is also
the recipient of honorary doctorates from universities in Canada,
Japan, and England. In 2004, he was awarded the International
Humanitarian Award by the City of Champaign.
