 Hello Colleagues,

I hope you are well on this beautiful Tuesday. This afternoon I received a
phone call concerning disturbing images in downtown Champaign. I rushed to
the scene of the crime and found the images to be as disheartening
and disturbing as described.

Talks with the owner concerning the offensive nature of the images proved
futile. They were first described as "art," then "history," and finally as
"folklore." These images are being painted as I type and are located on the
wall of "Carrie's" on Neil St. in downtown Champaign across the street from
Boltini Lounge.

I warn you to brace yourselves as you view this image. There are more images
but the list serv won't let them through.  Encounters such as this prove the
need for the existence of the Bruce Nesbitt African American Cultural
Center, OMSA, DAAS and OIIR as our mission to educate individuals is
never-ending.
