Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and C-U Community Members:



In less than one week, the University of Illinois Women’s Resources Center
and the campus YWCA—along with a variety of campus RSOs (listed below)—will
host a dialogue on the topic of abortion that we encourage all to attend. It
is our hope that this dialogue will encourage discussion on the issue of
abortion and women’s rights. We are eager to present to you a panel of
speakers from all sides of the abortion debate who have worked, written, and
contributed to the issue of abortion in a diversity of ways.



Together, it is out hope that the C-U community will look to this program as
a unique opportunity to dig into the complexities of reproduction, to
question the narratives presented to us, and to challenge one another to
seek understanding. Whatever your stance on the issue of abortion, we
encourage you not miss this chance to discuss one of the most contested
issues within women’s rights.  Full details below:

*Hot Topics Dialogues: Feminist Forum on the Diversity of Abortion** *

*A Panel Discussion***

*WHERE:* McKinley Foundation (809 South Fifth Street, Champaign, IL 61820)

*WHEN:* Monday, September 27th, 2010

*TIME:* 7pm-8pm

*DESCRIPTION:* A collaboration between the Women’s Resources Center and the
campus YWCA, Hot Topics Dialogues are dialogue workshops designed to
generate conversation around contemporary issues, focusing on intersections
of race and gender. Co-sponsors include: Women of Color (WOC), Illini
Collegians for Life, National Organization for Women (NOW), and the
International Socialist Organization (ISO). Panelists include: Reverend
Rebecca Turner of Faith Aloud, Sally Williams of Urban Life Matters, UIUC
professor and author of *Before Abortion Was A Crime *Dr. Leslie Reagan, and
Dr. Katherine Loutrel of Carle Clinic

 *Small resource fair will also be present at the event and will include
pro-life and pro-choice resources (as well as general women's resources)
from the campus and local community.
